Container load calculator

Estimate how many cable drums and pallets fit into a shipping container or a road trailer, checking both volume and payload.

1Container or vehicle

Drums rest on dunnage or pallets, never directly on the floor, and timber separators go between levels. Both eat into the usable height, so they change how many levels fit.

Payload is calculated as max gross weight minus tare. Override the figures with those on your carrier's CSC plate — they vary by owner and container age.

2Load

Set a fixed quantity, or tick “fill the container” to find the maximum. Weight per unit is required: without it the payload check cannot be performed.

3Result

Set the container and the load, then press Calculate.
Estimate only. This tool gives a geometric estimate based on the dimensions entered. It is reliable enough for planning and quotation, but it is not a stowage plan. Actual loading depends on dunnage and securing material, floor bearing capacity, weight distribution over the axles, door opening clearance, and the loading crew's method.
Weight is the real limit. Cable drums almost always hit the payload limit before they run out of space. Entering the weight of each drum or pallet is therefore not optional. Also bear in mind that road regulations in most European countries cap the total truck weight well below the container's own rating, so the usable payload for the road leg is often lower.
